Vanity Mounting Guide

Floating, freestanding or both: how to choose the right mounting for a vanity.

Before a finish is chosen, every vanity starts with one decision: does it float, or does it stand? That choice shapes how the floor reads, how the wall is framed and how much storage sits below the counter.

Wall-hung

Fixed to the wall with open floor beneath. The room reads larger, the floor finish runs wall to wall, and the counter height is set to suit the user.

Plan for: solid backing installed before the wall is closed, and plumbing positioned to clear the drawers.

Floor-standing

Meets the floor on legs, feet or a sculptural base. The vanity reads as furniture or as a focal object, with proportion and presence.

Plan for: counter height set by the leg dimension, and leg positions coordinated with the tile layout.

Hybrid

A wall-mounted cabinet paired with decorative legs. The legs complete a furniture silhouette while the wall carries the load.

Plan for: wall backing as for a floating vanity, and leg height confirmed early.
